Hifiman Edition XV improves on the sound we love about the Edition XS, in a big way! The XV is a newer tuning for Hifiman, taking the XS and enhancing its best qualities for a fresh new, more engaging tuning. You will enjoy improved clarity and detail across the range, with more fine treble detail and better separation of vocals and instruments.

These are one of Hifiman's fullest sounding headphones in the bass, so if you are after something to listen to at lower volume (we naturally hear relatively less bass at low volumes), if you enjoy big symphony sound, punchy rock, love the brighter 80's recordings or just want to hear every subtle note in electronic music, take a long look at the Edition XV.

It leans away from brightness and really provides what people are looking for when they say they like a 'fuller' sound.

Hifiman Planar Headphones tend to reproduce bass extremely well, with a flat response all the way down to 20Hz and below that conveys all the dynamics in the recording (many dynamic open back headphones roll off the lowest frequencies, not Hifiman). Edition XV Features New 2025 Technologies

Neo Supernano Diaphragm Gen 2 

Edition XV driver features Hifiman's newly developed 2025 driver technology, NEO Supernano Diaphragm Gen 2. This diaphragm is 60% of the thickness of the previous Edition XS model, allowing Hifiman to better control its movement and achieve improved responsiveness. A lighter driver is a faster driver and a faster driver can more accurately reproduce the dynamics and constant changes in all music. (All headphone and speaker manufacturers strive to create light and durable materials for their drivers).

New Improved Build Quality & Connectors 

Edition XV uses a familiar oval shaped earcups that customers love from previous higher end models and is a size shared with all of the higher end Hifiman models. With the come welcome improvements in fit and finish, improved headphone connectors and the new Gen 2 Headband. 

The headband provides a lighter weight, comfortable soft head strap and built int rotation / swivel at the ear cups, for a more natural fit to eliminate pressure points, a reliable long life and a natural fit thanks to built in swivel on both sides. 

Hifiman's Enhanced Magnets, another new 2025 technology, provide a magnetic power similar to previous designs but thanks to clever engineering, they do this while using no rare earth metals in the build. 

Edition XV Amplifier Suggestion:  Likes a bit of power and does not lean into brightness, but with a 92dB Sensitivity it works well with a strong solid state design. Will work well with the highest power dongle dacs or strong battery powered dac, but something like a Hifiman EF500 or Serenade Jr are an ideal match.
